Drag to create, move, resize and copy events

Book time by dragging across the timeline, reschedule by dragging an event, stretch it from its edge, and hold ⌥/Alt to make a copy, with Undo for every change.

The timeline isn't just for looking. Most everyday calendar edits take a single drag: block out time, push a meeting back, make it longer, or duplicate it.

Drag to create an event#

  1. 1

Press on an empty part of the timeline

Press where you want the event to start and drag down.

  2. 2

    Watch the live labels

A dashed selection follows your pointer, with the start and end times at its handles and the duration in a pill above it. Times snap to clean intervals.

  3. 3

Release and fill in the details

The event composer opens with that date and time already set. Give it a title and press Create Event.

  4. 4

    Confirm

Calendario confirms which calendar the event will be added to, then it appears on the timeline with an Event created notice.

Drag out a block, type a title and create it. Start to finish in a few seconds.

Fill a free gap in one click#

Every gap between meetings is labelled with how long it is, such as 45m free. Click the chip and the composer opens with exactly that gap selected, so you don't even need to drag.

Click “45m free” and the composer is already set to 11:00–11:45.

Drag to move an event#

Press on an event and drag it up or down. While you drag, a pill shows the new start and end time. Release, and the change is saved to Google or Outlook straight away.

A notice at the bottom confirms the new time and offers Undo, in case you dropped it in the wrong place.

Move an event, then press Undo to put it back.

Resize from the bottom edge#

Hover the bottom edge of an event and drag its grip to make it longer or shorter. The duration updates live as you drag.

Stretching a 45-minute errand to an hour and a quarter.

Hold ⌥ / Alt to copy#

Hold ⌥ Option (Alt on Windows) while you drag and Calendario leaves the original where it is and drops a copy at the new time. The dragged card shows a Copy badge so you know which one you're making. As with moving, the notice offers Undo, which deletes the copy again.

⌥-drag makes a copy and keeps the original.

Good to know#

  • Changed your mind mid-drag? Press Esc before releasing and the event snaps back.
  • Only events you can edit move. Invites organized by someone else, read-only shared calendars and Zoom meetings stay put, so you can't accidentally reschedule someone else's meeting.
  • If the provider refuses a change, for example because you lost edit rights, Calendario puts the event back and shows the provider's message.

What's next#

Next, open up an event to see its full details, answer invites, and delete one or many at once, in part 6.
